Lady Sarah Kyobala Idi Amin was the sixth and "favorite" wife of Idi Amin. She had previously performed as a go-go dancer for the Revolutionary Suicide Mechanized Regiment Band of the Ugandan army, earning her the nickname "Suicide Sarah."
Amin had seen her perform when she was 19 and had fallen in love with her. In 1975, the pair wed for £2 million in Uganda's capital city of Kampala, with Yasser Arafat, the future president of Palestine, serving as best man. Amin, a former heavyweight boxing champion and soldier in the British colonial army, is said to have slashed the wedding cake with a sword.
She initially met Amin in Masaka while Kyolaba was seeing someone else. On Christmas Day 1974, she gave birth to a kid by her former partner and fiancé. Amin, who was notorious for claiming to be the father of 43 kids, however, claimed possession of the child and insisted that it be shown on television. The fiance disappeared soon after that.
When Kyolaba left Amin in 1982, she took the third of her four children—Faisal Wangita—with her. She had a brief stint as a lingerie model in Germany prior to moving to London.
She was 59 years old when she died in 2015 at the Royal Free hospital in Hampstead after a protracted battle with cancer
